As a man, once a boy.
Behind eyes like deep lakes,
calm, patient, serene lakes,
unfettered by fences,
but shackled by all the same cities,
Existed a man,
haunted by existence.
As a boy,
in between clashing hammers of war,
a mother and father,
two enemies,
two lovers,
too long...
It's where the vision began.
This, the young man,
with a handful of ideas,
and a head full of mystery,
placed on the table of humanity,
ideas that were a handful, exposing mysteries
that fill our heads.
This, the man,
and they never understood him.
Only analyzed him,
tried to solve him,
tried to involve him,
in plastic plots,
more deadly than the venom,
of violence and ignorance combined.
He was not hollywood,
he was not broadway,
he was not...
It's what made him,
It's what saved him,
It's how he remained a poet,
Of words, of the screen, of the stage...
A conductor,
Lightly tapping for attention,
then delivering the music of the void.

THROUGH FENCES

A month ago I overheard two people talking about how foxes had been seen in the city recently. Since then I've been on the hunt for a photograph of one interacting with the urban landscape of Denver. While cutting through Denver University early this morning I finally had the chance to get close to one of these illusive creatures. I quickly drew my camera thinking he would surely run away before I could get a shot off. After the first 10, I started getting closer, crawling down the hill, leaving my satchel and guitar in it's case at the top. After 25 shots he noticed my gear and got up to get a closer look at what I left behind. At first I thought he was just hanging out with my guitar and what a great photo it would make, but he wasn't just hanging out with it.
The little scamp was marking it.

He knew what he was doing.
The sly little bugger.
I didn't realize what he did until I had walked a few blocks away. I just thought my gear was wet from laying in the dew covered grass. I'm sure the people on the tram and in the bus were wondering who they were riding with that was so intensely ripe.
So thumbs up to you fox. The day is yours.

Best sleep I've had in years.
When riding a train, look in the glass case that holds the fire extinguisher. There you will find a box of 10 fresh Glow Light Company Lightsticks. Take as many as needed.

A stack of new client files waits for me atop my desk each day.
You convinced yourself when you sent out all your personal information that the person receiving it was a genuinely good person. You told yourself that you trust the company and their employees to take the utmost care in processing your account.
I laugh with my co-workers at the faces you make in your drivers license photos. You look so stupid but thumbs up to you for being a donor.
I utilize my photographic memory with your social security numbers. You must have worked so hard on your signature because it is perfect cursive.
You should really change your name though because whenever I show it to someone they laugh.
The satellite images of your house on google earth tell me the make and model of the car you drive. I really like maroon on a taurus. You know a rock wall and some morning glory vines would really raise your property value.
Also your debit card is about to expire next month so don't forget to call Firstbank and get a replacement sent out to you. I don't want any purchases you make to get declined.
God, this kona blend coffee is good.
